For the Groom – Tuxedo Junction! ... If your man
wants the responsibility of taking care of his (and his Groomsmen’s) tuxedos,
share these tips with him…
-
When choosing a Tux, remember that you’ll be
seeing it (in pictures) the rest of your life! Now is NOT the time to try
something outrageous or extremely trendy (remember Tux-T-shirts with
sneakers?). Choose a Classic, Time-tested look for your male party. Long ties,
by the way, are IN!
-
About a week before the wedding have him Stop By
the Tuxedo shop to check that they have the correct information on him and his
party. Ask the employee to physically point out the tuxedo style you ordered,
and the accessories that come with it. Also, make sure their computer shows the
Measurements for the entire party, the Pick-up / Drop-Off dates, and the NUMBER
of tuxedos you’ll need. If you need six, make sure they have complete records
on six tuxedos.
-
The Groom and Party should TRY ON the Entire
Outfit – accessories and all – when they pick up the tuxedos. If something is
loose, have them fix it. If he isn’t sure how to wear something, have him ask.
Consider this a Final Fitting.
-
Have him arrange for the tuxedos to be picked up
AFTER the final fitting (pick them up maybe the day or two before the wedding).
Also, have him plan to have someone responsible RETURN the tuxedos, accessories
and all, the Day After The Wedding. You don’t want to needlessly pay a late
fee!
-
Try to pick up the Tuxedos two days before the
wedding, if the shop allows. That way, if something’s missing (shoes,
accessories) you have a bit of time to fix the problem.
-
AGAIN, Try On the entire outfit beforehand
(preferably at the shop). You don’t want your 300 pound brother trying to
squeeze into a size 38 coat the morning of the wedding!
-
Finally, His Haircut! – It usually takes about
two weeks after a haircut for a man’s hair to “settle” into its best look. If
the Groom gets a haircut the day before the wedding the hair might look spiky
in all those life-long pictures!
