My Favorite reception Songs - Starry Nite DJs Best Tips

Starry Nite DJs Best Tip -
My favorite Reception Songs...
PLUS an Inexhaustible List of All Time Songs!

I won't lie to you - I've been DJing weddings for over 20 years now, started back when I had to carry crates of records to each gig (I was much stronger then!), and each album had maybe one song I needed to play. It was the 90's, and Michael Jackson was scorchin' hot (still is),
as was Ace of Base, Coolio, Nirvana, even some overflow from the 80's. Fads came, fads went. Will Smith came and went. Remember REAL Hip-Hop (Public Enemy, etc.)?

1) Comes to this...there are STILL certain genres of music that are popular at 90% of the weddings. Some indispensible dance songs for any reception are...
Aretha Franklin - Respect, ABC (Jackson 5), Twist and Shout (Beatles), Love Shack (B52's), Paradise by the dashboard Light (Meatloaf), Grease, Shout, ANYTHING from Michael Jackson. The list goes on and on, but these are core. Maybe Aerosmith. Sinatra for the Older crowd. Remember that at least half of your wedding crowd is over 50, and need to be entertained too!

Of course, Top 40 is ALWAYS a hit with the young people. It changes so often I can't list them, but LMFAO, Pitbull, J-LO, Gaga, etc. These change weekly, but are automatic with the party crowd.

2) Some brides have asked for a comprehensive Dance list from each era of music, so they can choose songs. Luckily, Tom's Best Comprehensive Song Lists (click link) - a link to my website page that contains everything you need to keep the party rolling Your Way - to Your Taste. Check it out - there are hundreds of songs listed by genre - you may find a nice selection for your wedding!
