Seating Older Guests...
Played a Great Wedding Saturday in Trumbull (Tashua Knolls)...
I Noticed that the oldest guests were seated closest to me (and my Equipment!) on the lip of the dance floor...
Throughout dinner I'd make frequent trips to their tables, to make sure the Dinner Music wasn't too loud; it's important that guests have the opportunity to talk to each other - long lost relatives, old friends, etc - during dinner. The music should be in the background. If someone hears something they'd like to dance to, they can get on the dance floor and enjoy.
I also warned these tables that after the cake-cutting, the music was going to get Much Louder for the Dancing. And it did. I spent the night watching some of these ladies with their fingers in their ears, silent as they could never talk over the Party that was happening 10 feet from their table! 2 approached me to ask me to turn the dance music way down, but at that point I could not acquiesce - Everyone was Dancing, there was an hour left to the Reception, and the Bride kept asking me to get a bit louder for the Dancers!
Tip - Please seat older people away from the dance floor, unless they're partiers! The DJ should be smart enough to keep the music low during dinner, but after that it's his duty to crank it!
